Welcome to the Cumbria - Cumberland Federation

Our federation, which represents the former county of Cumberland, was formed in 1920, and in 2005 we celebrated our 85th birthday.

Cumbria-Cumberland Federation covers the beautiful area south of the Scottish Borders, part of the Lake District, and along the Solway Coast down to Millom. We have 121 WIs in the federation.

These are mainly rural, but six of them are in towns: Alston, Penrith, Brampton and three in the city of Carlisle

Chairman
All our WIs have their individual personalities, meeting on different evenings and catering to the needs of their members, all meetings are held in the evenings. Arts and crafts, walking groups, eating out, and day trips are all very popular, along with slide shows and lectures.

The federation holds classes, events and social get-togethers, covering a wide range of topical subjects. Recently we have had ‘roadside verges’ and ‘medical minefield’ evenings along with arts and crafts, cookery events and flower arranging.

Our monthly newsletter, County News, contains information on all current activities.

Eileen Wilson

Chairman.
