Channel 4 programme on Hampshire Federation’s resolution to legalise brothels

Hampshire Federation of Women’s Institutes passed a resolution calling for legalisation of brothels in October 2007. The National Federation of Women’s Institutes (NFWI) is unable to comment on the resolution as it applies to the Hampshire Federation only and does not constitute a national mandate.

The National Federation of Women’s Institutes (NFWI) today welcomed the launch of the ‘End Violence Against Women’ campaign (EVAW) template strategy for an integrated, cross-Government department approach which will help to end violence against women.

One Resolution Passed

Delegates at the National Federation of Women’s Institutes (the NFWI) AGM in Liverpool yesterday passed a resolution urging the Government to provide treatment and therapy for those with severe mental health problems in a more appropriate and secure residential environment than prison.

The WI is back at the Ideal Home Show!

After years of absence from the Ideal Home Show the National Federation of Women's Institutes is back and is encouraging visitors to take up its Carbon Challenge. Cookery demonstrations is one way in which the WI has been involved throughout the Show's history. And in 1951, the year of the Festival of Britain, there was even a WI 'ideal home.'

WI Hosts Climate Change Conference

The NFWI will celebrate the past three years of sustainability and climate change projects across the Women’s Institute network at its 90@90 closing conference on 5 March 2008. The 90@90 project covers a range of individual lifestyle changes through various projects including: EcoTeams, lift-sharing, home composting and local food sourcing. Speakers at the conference include Joan Ruddock, minister for climate change.
